If you are new to this Christianity thing, then we really need to go back to basics. Jesus was a man who lived over 2,000 years ago.  Well, he was more than a man, he was also the only son of God.  In the Bible, John 3;16 states: "For God so loved the World, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." God cared deeply about the men and women he had created and saw that they needed cared for.  They needed redemption.  He wanted to better understand them..how they felt, what they needed, what they desired.  So he sent his son to live as a human being to live with mankind to live, breathe, feel and experience everything that man did. Jesus was born as a baby (you know the Christmas story, right?), he grew as a child..little is known about his childhood except that his father was a carpenter and that Jesus ran away from his parents once on a trip to Jeruselem, to go to the temple.  And, yes, he got into trouble for it just like all kids do! Jesus grew to be a man, performed miracles, recruited disciples etc.  but the most important thing he did on earth for us was to be tortured and to die on a cross for us so that all of our sins could be forgiven forever so that we could go to heaven. That includes you and me. That is the most amazing part!

God's love for us is so complete, so pure, so unconditional and so amazing!  We don't have to DO anything for him to love us.  He loves you just because you are his child!  Jesus died for you!  It says in the Bible that God knew everything about you before you were even born!  Just think about that for a minute!  It is a bit mind boggling!  He knows how many hairs are on your head!  He gives us "Free Will" to make choices..but he already knows what choice we are going to make before we make it, right or wrong, and he loves us regardless of what that choice may be! All we need to do is ask for forgiveness through Jesus and our sins are forgiven!  All because Jesus died for us over 2,000 years ago.  The only catch is that we must really be sorry for the wrong that we did.  That's all!

So, if you really think about it, it is really easy to relate to someone who already loves you That Much! What could be scary about that.  Are you afraid that you aren't worthy?  Well, the truth of the matter is, none of us are truly worthy of his love..but it is by the GRACE of God that we are forgiven.  Grace means Gift.  It is God's gift to us to have sent Jesus to die for our sins. Since Jesus was a child, a boy, a young man, he can relate to everything we have gone through in those stages of life.  If you are a child or a teen right now, he has a good idea of what things you might be feeling or going through! Talk to Jesus just like you would talk to your friends, after all, he did for you what many of your friends might not do.  His love is generous.  His love is neverending. Reach out your hand to him and I guarantee that he will reach back with open arms!
